Itinerary

This morning, at the check-in point, you will meet your Tour Manager and join the coach for a leisurely drive from London to the Royal city of Windsor. On arrival we visit Windsor Castle, the largest inhabited Castle in the world, and the oldest in continuous occupation. On the tour (subject to opening arrangements), visit: the State Apartments, St George’s Chapel and Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House. Continue onto York, England’s best preserved medieval city, and stand in awe in front of the great structure of York Minster - see the Gothic-style Cathedral from outside. Continuing our drive, we reach our overnight stop and check-in at our hotel. (Dinner)

Driving through Northumberland National Park, we cross the Scottish border, and passing small valleys and river streams, our journey leads us to the romantic ruins of Jedburgh Abbey, for a photo-stop. Crossing River Tweed we reach Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland. On arrival we meet our expert local guide for our sightseeing tour, which features a visit to the famous Edinburgh Castle. We will also view The Palace of Holyroodhouse, once home of Mary Queen of Scots, Old and New Town, the stately Royal Mile, and elegant Princes Street. Later we drive to our overnight stop and check-in at our hotel. (Breakfast, Dinner)

Depart north today for the scenic drive to Fort William, at the foot of the mighty Ben Nevis, to visit the Nevis Range. Enjoy the ascent to up to 2150 ft. on the north face of Aonach Mor by mountain gondolas (visit to the Nevis Range is weather permitting). The journey allows breathtaking views of the Scottish Highlands, including the Great Glen, Ben Nevis, and surrounding areas. Our next stop is at the Commando Memorial, dedicated to the men of the original British Commando Forces raised during World War II. Later we also stop for photos at Neptune's Staircase, the longest staircase lock in Britain, for lifting boats on the Caledonian Canal. We then drive to Loch Lomond, a freshwater lake lying on the Highland Boundary Fault and the largest inland stretch of water in Great Britain by surface area, where you have some free time at the lake-side. Late evening we check into our hotel. (Breakfast, Dinner)

This morning we enjoy the sights of Glasgow on a guided panoramic tour: see Glasgow Cathedral, Georges Square, University of Glasgow and the City Chambers. We then visit a local whisky distillery (*) for a short tour. Later we drive to Gretna Green,  a village in the south of Scotland famous for runaway weddings, and today one of UK's most famous place to get married. The Old Blacksmith's Shop and Gretna Hall Blacksmith's Shop are in popular folklore, the focal tourist points for the marriage trade. Continuing our drive south, we arrive in the Lake District, known for its glacial ribbon lakes, rugged fell mountains and historic literary associations, where we can admire the natural scenery and breathtaking views. Late evening we check into our hotel. (Breakfast, Dinner)

This morning enjoy a scenic cruise on Lake Windermere and a Heritage Steam Train ride from Lakeside to Haverthwaite. Later we depart for the beautiful town of Stratford-upon-Avon, birthplace of William Shakespeare, where you have some free time to explore the historical town. We then continue onto London where the tour ends and it is time to say farewell to all the friends you have made on tour. (Breakfast)
